Happiness Virtue (Banana Pancakes Pt 23)

The clicking of keys on a keyboard, as one letter moves across to another. Letters flash onto the white screen, stringing together words.

“To find something truly wonderful, you have to be in your darkest depths.”

Appears on the screen, more clicking, faster and the faint sound of music in the background.

“You have to seek that glimmer of hope and joy. It may take some time, maybe even a long time but it’s there.”

More words stringing together to form phrases. A slight snore came from the right. Troy is sat upright in bed, laptop on his knees as he’s typing away.

Avery, blond hair swept covering her face, is face down next to Troy, sleep eyes tight shut. He stares down at her for a brief moment, smiling then turns to his laptop again.

“It’s the moment you smile. Smile for the good things and he happiness.”

He moves some of her hair out from her face and she almost wakes. The song is drawing to an end.

“Happiness that the darkness is over and the light has arrived.”

The typing stop, a slow sigh then begins again.

“I’ve overcome my issues and I’m moving on.”

Avery wakes, eyes slowly opening to begin with followed by a yawn.

“What time is it?” She says, still yawning.

Troy moves slightly aside to give her room as she hoists herself up from the covers.

“It’s 7.30am. Didn’t want to wake you.” He said to her staring into her eyes.

The music draws to a close.

“Skinny Love, Bon Iver. What a nice song to wake up to.” She rolls towards Troy, kissing him on the cheek.

She peeks at his laptop, “What’s going on here? Early morning work maybe mr author?”

He saves the document, closes the laptop and smiles at her, “it’s nothing, we’ll, just something for Work.”

“The writing block finally gone.” Avery says.

He pauses for a moment, “Yeah, I think it has.”
