Through this year I will be writing a longer story called Banana Pancakes. Through this each post will be a short story forming a larger story.
Troy was sat in the bar called puzzles, trying to position himself on a triangled stool. People danced in the background, moving around to the 80 and 90’s vibes which where playing off whilst he sat staring at his empty drink.
He heard a familiar voice, then the stool next to him he pulled out and someone sit beside him. “Buy you another?” The voice said.
He turned, seeing Kyle sat next to him but couldn’t pull any kind of excitement expression. Kyle waived to the bartender for another drink, putting two fingers in the air.
“What do you want?” Troy angrily said.
“Come on, it’s been a while, why be like that?” Kyle replied.
In the background the bartender made the drinks, Troy staring t the panoply display of glasses sitting at different heights over the bar.
Troy swirled the remainder of his drink in the glass, “Why? Are you being serious?”
The two drinks were brought over by the obsequious bartender and placed in front of Troy and Kyle. Kyle sipped his, whilst Troy knocked it straight back only leaving a little bit left in the glass.
“What do you want me to say? I’m sorry.” Kyle took another drink.
The music started to dwell down, leaving more of an atmosphere.
“You walked straight out. Left her and all you can say is sorry. To the wrong person?”
“I don’t know what I was doing, what I am doing. I, I, I just.” Kyle started spluttering out his words, not quite sure what to say to Troy.
“Do you hear yourself. You didn’t just leave her, you left me. You were my best friend Kyle, come on. Seriously.” Troy took another swig if the remainder of the contents in the glass. “We all have difficult times, heck I know that for sure. You’ve got no excuse why you left and walked out. You haven’t even called or texted, nothing.”
The pair sit in silence for a moment.
“How is she?” Kyle asked Troy.
His fist clenched tight, Kyle continued talking and out of nowhere Troy swing and hit him in the face, sending Kyle to the ground in a dedicated landing.
Troy then walked out, leaving Kyle in the ground of the bar and got straight into a taxi outside to a young African driver.
